N. Charleston mayor cooking breakfast for charity

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- North Charleston Mayor R. Keith Summey is serving breakfast at Cork Neighborhood Bistro Friday in an effort to raise money for a local business.

The fundraiser for the Teacher's Supply Closet will take place on Friday, September 14 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Breakfast will be free to the public as Mayor Summey slings the eggs and bacon. Donations are welcomed.

Plans for the fundraiser began over the summer when it was decided the Teacher's Supply Closet would undergo expansion to serve additional North Charleston area schools. The store recently suffered extensive water damage as a result of heavy rains on August 28, so the money is now needed more than ever.

"We have been working hard to get our facility back up and running and are so grateful to mayor Summey and his staff for holding this event to help us recover," said TSC Executive Director Deborah Hanlon. "We look forward to meeting some new supporters!"

Cork Neighborhood Bistro is located at 1067 East Montague Avenue.
