The Prostate Cancer Pony Express Raises Awareness By Delivering ...

Manhattan Beach, CA? (PRBuzz.com) April 4, 2012 -- The Prostate Cancer Pony Express riders are delivering a joint letter from the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project and the member organizations of the Prostate Cancer Roundtable to each Governor, requesting increased attention on prostate cancer and support for the Roundtable's agenda.

Why Prostate Cancer Awareness Matters
Prostate cancer strikes one of every six men. According to the National Cancer Society, there are over 240,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in 2011, and nearly 34,000 men died from the disease in 2011.

Prostate cancer is a "silent killer," since there generally are few symptoms until the disease is advanced. "Prostate cancer is highly treatable if caught prior to metastasis, but detection and diagnosis are critical," Hess said.

The relay ride began Saturday, March 17th, 2012 in Daytona, Florida and will continue through September 12, 2012 in Washington, DC -- 82 legs over 6 months - covering 25,608 miles for prostate cancer awareness.

Ride Details
The daily ride schedule from March 17 to the final leg to the White House on September 9th is posted on the Internet at http://bit.ly/2012ProstateCancerPonyExpressDailyRoute.
